Protective orders
If you are afraid to be at home, start here.
A protective order is a court order telling someone to stay away from you and your children. We prepare the application, go with you to the hearing and help you plan for the days in between.
If you are in danger right now, call 911. The Quick exit button at the top of every page leaves this site at once, but it cannot clear your browser history. If someone else can see your device, call us from another phone.
What you tell us is confidential, even before you hire us. The other person learns of a case only when the court papers are delivered to them.
We help with
The application and your statement

What happens
From your first call to the hearing.
- 01
We listen and plan
A lawyer hears what is happening and helps you think through where you will stay and who needs to know.
- 02
We prepare the papers
We write the application with your dates and details, and file it as quickly as the court allows.
- 03
We go with you
We explain the hearing beforehand and stand beside you at it, so you do not face it alone.
Asked by people afraid at home
Do I have to be married to the person?
No. These orders can cover a spouse, a former partner, a relative or someone you live with. Tell us the relationship and we will explain what applies.
Will the other person know I called you?
No. Our conversations are confidential. The other person is told only when the court papers are served.
Do I need a lawyer to ask for one?
You can ask without one. A lawyer helps the application say what the court needs to hear, and stands with you if the other side hires a lawyer too.
You do not have to decide everything today.
Call when you can. If you cannot speak freely, send a message and tell us when it is safe to call.
Please don't send confidential details through the form.
