Questions we are asked most.

If yours is not here, call or write.

Who at the firm speaks Spanish?

Rosana Esparza and Gustavo Lozano meet clients in Spanish every day, and so does our front desk. Helena Tillman works in English; when a client prefers Spanish, Rosana or Gustavo joins the meeting.

What does the first consultation cost?

We quote the consultation fee when you book. Fees for a matter are discussed in writing after that, before any work begins.

Is what I tell you confidential?

Yes. What you tell a lawyer in a consultation is confidential, even if you decide not to hire us. The contact form is different, so please use it only for basics and call us for details.

My spouse already has a lawyer. Can you still help?

Yes. Having a lawyer on the other side is the usual situation. We will talk with that lawyer so you do not have to.

Do you handle immigration questions?

No. If a family matter raises an immigration question, we tell you early and refer you to a lawyer who practices it.

Can I come in outside business hours?

Saturday appointments are available by request. If you work during the day, tell us and we will find a time.

I live across the border. Can you represent me?

Often, yes, if the case belongs in a court where we practice. Tell us where you, your spouse and the children live, and we will tell you what is possible.

What if I am in danger right now?

Call 911. When you are safe, call us; we can start a protective order the same week. The Quick exit button at the top of every page leaves this site at once.

One call can settle the question.

A first conversation answers more than a page of questions.

Please don't send confidential details through the form.
